Central Libraries may soon have more books about Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Government planning to add new books on him, as part of its mission to make the leaders of modern India more visible in these libraries.
Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma told PTI that books about Veer Sarvarkar, Subash Chandra Bose and Maulana Azad would also be made available in Central Libraries in the country.
"Is Narendra Modi not part of modern India? Why should books about him not be part of central libraries? ...There will be more number of books (on Modi)," he said, adding that books on other national leaders like Veer Savarkar, Subhas Chandra Bose and Maulana Azad would also be made part of the collection.
Asked about the criticism that BJP won the election on the development plank, but the Centre's focus was now on saffronisation, he defended the move, saying that the 125 crore people in the country have voted for BJP to run the government in their way.
"I do not say saffronisation. Mandate is for the BJP-led government. And if the acts and works of that government are called saffronisation, I will not mind accepting it. Because mandate has been given by 125 crore people of this country that run the government in your way," Sharma said.
