Central official visits Churachandpur

Secretary (Internal Security) Ministry of Home Affairs Ashok Prasad today visited Churachandpur town to assess the prevailing situation there.
The visit capped the 21-day long movement relating to the Protection of Manipur People Bill and others.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) on anti-Tribal Bills of Churachandpur town accorded Prasad, on a three-day visit to the state, a grand reception at Churachandpur public ground and submitted a memorandum.
Prasad did not talk to the media.
The state and the town was on boil after Manipur Assembly passed three Bills on August 31- The Protection of Manipur People Bill, 2015, The Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms (seven Amendment) Bill,2015 and The Manipur Shops and Establishment (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015,
The JAC termed the bills as anti-tribal and unconstitutional passed in haste without debate.
