Central Rly clerk gets three years RI in graft case

A Railway clerk was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment by a court here for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.
Special Judge for CBI, V S Murkute, convicted Mahadeo Bokade, Head Clerk, office of Divisional Railway Manager, Central Railway, Nagpur, and also imposed a fine of Rs 4000 on him under Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused has also been sentenced to RI for a period of two years for punishable offences along with a fine of Rs 2,000.
A case was registered against Bokade on the basis of a complaint lodged by Bhupendra Nagle of Betul (MP) alleging that he had demanded the sum from the complainant for processing the payment of arrears of Sixth Pay Commission and also payment of leave encashment of his father.
The accused had also dishonestly substituted the leave records of father of the complainant with forged leave records in order to increase the balance of leave in his credit by removing the original service sheets.
After registration of the case, Bokade was apprehended while accepting the bribe from Nagle, a release from CBI said today.
