The team, comprising Joint Secretary Dr Prafulla Kerketta and Deputy Director Deena Nath, along with state officials including Disaster Management Secretary Kapa Kholie, made an extensive tour of the worst-hit circles including Kibitho, Walong and Hawai during the last three-days, official sources said here today.
The team visited the Haliapani hydel project to ascertain the magnitude of loss. It was targeted to be commissioned in December but the last flash floods and landslides completely washed away the civil works portion of its building.
The destruction of agricultural and horticulture crops, roads and culverts have been estimated to the tune of Rs 60 crore.
The team, before leaving for New Delhi yesterday, assured to take up the proposals with concerned ministries for early clearance so that financial aid is given to the district.
