Senior CPM leader Mohammad Salim today said the Centre showed a little haste in awarding Bharat Ratna to master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

However, the issue should not be dragged into the political arena, he stressed.

"As far as the announcement made by the government to give Bharat Ratna to Tendulkar is concerned, there has been a little bit of hurriedness. But, such honours should not be dragged into the field of politics," Salim told reporters here.
