The 'e-delivery of municipal services' project by KMC, which aims at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of services to its citizens, has been selected as the national best practice by the Centre, Kolkata Mayor announced today.
"Today we received a letter from the Joint Secretary to the Union Urban Development Ministry which said that Kolkata emerged as a national model in providing e-services to citizens," Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said.
He said that the ministry wrote to KMC to share best practice-model for other cities to emulate.
The KMC was asked to send at least 3,000 brochures and a five-minute documentary on e-services, which would be played at a convention of 500 cities being organised by the Union Urban Development ministry at the month-end, Chatterjee said.
State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee too wrote on the Facebook appreciating the Union Urban Development ministry's recognition.
"Kolkata Municipal Corporation has been informed by the Ministry of Urban Development that the 'e-delivery of municipal services' project of Kolkata Municipal Corporation has been selected as national best practice of our country. I thought of sharing this information with all of you," she wrote.
