Centre approached on clearance of new projects: govt

The Jammu and Kashmir government today said it has approached the Centre for clearance of land compensation cases with regard to 1100 new projects under the Prime Minister Grameen Sadak Yojna (PMGSY).
Wrapping up discussions on the demand for grants of his department in the Legislative Assembly, R&B minister Abdul Wani said several important projects relating to road sector have have been completed or are on the verge of completion.
He said besides taking up major road projects, the state government is focusing on improving and upgrading urban-rural connectivity.
"The state has approached the Centre for clearing land compensation cases in connection with 1100 new projects under PMGSY," Wani said.
During the current financial year, as many as 1296.84 kms of road had been black-topped, the minister said.
The state has recently received Centre's nod under PMGSY for taking up new road projects to provide road connectivity to left out 1100 habitations across the state, Wani said.
