Centre approves central virology lab in HP to combat swine flu

The Indian Council of Medical Research has approved setting up of a central virology laboratories in the state for immediate detection of swine flu cases and other related diseases.
A provision of Rs 5 crore has also been made for the same, a spokesperson of the state government said here today.
Three cases reported today were found positive for swine flu, and so far 12 out of total 45 suspected cases have been found positive for the viral disease, he said.
Two persons have so far died of the deadly disease, one from Solan and other from Kangra.
He said that adequate medicines had been made available throughout the state and suspected patients were being tested at IGMC, Shimla and Tanda Medical College.
Spreading across the country, number of swine flu deaths have soared to 663, while number of people affected by it has breached the 10,000 mark as the virus spread to new places like Nagaland.
