"Both the governments have betrayed the people of India by making false promises just to get votes. They should be aware of the consequences in coming days," Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of the Congress said in the state Assembly.
The Congress leader alleged that the BJD had not been able to fulfil promises made by it before the 2014 general elections.
Claiming that all developmental activities were undertaken during the Congress reign, Mishra said, "The Hirakud Dam, the Rourkela Steel Plant, Paradip Port and others were established during the Congress rule."
The Congress leader also slammed the Centre's role in the Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
"They (the Centre) have been adopting a double standard in the Mahanadi issue," he alleged.
Mishra said the Congress wanted, among other demands, hike in old-age pension from Rs 300 per month to Rs 1,000, Rs 5,000 pension for farmers above 60 years and enhancement of MLALAD to Rs 5 crore a year.
