While the Centre had not responded to the request of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to allocate the entire 1000 MW to be produced by Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant, it had accepted a similar plea by Congress-ruled Andhra Pradesh, Electricity Minister Natham R Viswanathan said in the assembly.
He said the entire power produced from a plant in Simhadri in Andhra Pradesh had been given to that state itself.
"The Centre is giving butter for one eye and limestone for another. It has not accepted Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's repeated requests to allocate the entire power from Kudankulam," he said during the discussion on grants for his department.
On the power cuts stretching to more than ten hours in several parts of the state, he said load shedding was coming down considerably.
