In the first phase, the centre will come up at Faridabad and Gurgaon, Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Geeta Bhukkal informed the state Assembly today.
She said that these centres would provide medical facilities and other support services such as legal aid, police services and counseling under one roof to women victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The centres would be headed by a coordinator who would be a senior doctor of the hospital where the OSCC is located. There would be a team of around 8-10 persons consisting of a counselor, a police officer, a lawyer, two doctors on duty and supporting staff like nurses.
Bhukkal said that as per guidelines of the Central Government, these centres would be set up in those cities where the population is five lakh or more. Also, there is proposal to set up these centres in those cities where the population is two lakh or more.
