Centre has released Rs 345 cr to AP govt for Polavaram project

Central Government has released funds to the tune of Rs 345 crore to Andhra Pradesh Government for construction of Polavaram project as on September this year, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
Union Minister of State for Water Resources Sanwar Lal Jat shared the information in response to questions on funds committed and released by Centre until now to the state for the project.
As per provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 Centre is committed to provide 100 per cent funds for construction of the project.
All expenditure beyond April 1, 2014 is to be borne by Central Government, Jat said and added the state has until now incurred expenditure of Rs 439.98 crore and Rs 1991.33 crore during the years 2014-15 and 2015-16 (up to September 2015).
"During 2014-15 and 2015-16, a total of Rs 345 crore has been reimbursed to the state government," Jat added.
The Minister said it has been reported overall progress of project is about 34 per cent up by the end of September 2015 with an expenditure of Rs 7566.58 crore.
It has been reported by the State Government that the project is likely to be completed by March 2018.
