BJP today claimed here that Ministry of Corporate Affairs has given orders for inquiry into the alleged fake companies of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati and her brother Anand Kumar.
"The ministry of corporate affairs, through a letter, has informed me about orders to this effect," BJP general secretary Kirit Somaiya told newspersons here.
The BJP leader, who also distributed the copies of the letter written on February 19, said that on the complaint made by him on December 15, 2011 against 125 group companies of Anand Kumar and Mayawati, the ministry has given orders to start inquiry.
Of these 125 companies, the whereabout of ten was not known, he said.
The letter, written by Deputy Director (Inspection) Ministry of Corporate Affairs, R K Bakshi, was sent to him in February, the BJP leader said.
"I am directed to refer to your letter and to state that with reference to your earlier complaint against 125 companies, led by Anand Kumar, brother of Mayawati, the name of 115 companies have been identified whereas out of which 10 companies are not available on the MCA portal," the letter which was distributed to the reporters here said.

Somaiya said that he had made a complaint about scams to the tune of Rs 10 thousand crores earned through 'benami' companies of Mayawati and her brother.
The BJP leader demanded that this inquiry should be conducted in three months time and money taken from them should be deposited in the exchequer or else his party would be forced to knock at the doors of court.
Somaiya said that despite making a promise that it would get the case probed after coming to power, Samajwadi Party initiated it but got it stopped soon after.
"In respect of 115 companies concerned Registrar of Companies have been advised to take up the matter with those companies by invoking the provision of Section 234 of the Companies Act 1956 and to submit their report to the ministry," the letter said.
