Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the Centre was positive about the state's Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana, a direct benefit transfer scheme for farmers, and had also appointed a committee under Union Home Rajnath Singh to discuss the scheme.

Chouhan, talking to reporters here, said that several other states had also shown interest to replicate the scheme and had seen a presentation of it.

"The Prime Minister has formed a group of ministers headed by Home Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss MP's Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana. Several other states have also shown interest (to replicate the scheme in their states) and seen its presentation," Chouhan said here.

The BBY is a direct benefit transfer scheme under which farmers will be paid the difference between the modal price (average market price for a particular commodity over a stipulated period) and the minimum support price (MSP) of crops.

He announced that the state would purchase garlic and onion under the BBY while gram, lentils and mustard would be bought as per MSP.

"The state government would purchase chana, masoor and sarso on MSP from farmers who have already registered themselves for the Bhavantar Yojana," Chouhan said, adding that MP had a bumper crop despite a drought-like situation prevailing here.
