Centre providing all assistance to quake-hit Manipur

All necessary assistance is being provided to the Manipur government for search, rescue and relief operations after an earthquake hit the state, the Centre said today.
As decided at a meeting of the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC), chaired by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha this morning, a total of 83 rescuers of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were airlifted in three aircraft from Guwahati to Imphal and deployed in rescue operations.
Another team of 35 rescuers of NDRF has been deployed in Silchar in Assam to cater to the needs of areas surrounding the town, the Home Ministry said in a statement.
A three-member team from Power Grid Corporation of India has already reached Imphal for restoration of the electricity supply.
A team of doctors will be arriving in Manipur tomorrow morning to assess the situation and assist the state government.
The Home Ministry said there is no shortage of petroleum products. There is normal availability of all products with stocks of two weeks and above.
