Centre's money finally started reaching farmers in Karnataka: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said never before had any government provided as much funds to Karnataka as his administration did and the money started reaching farmers after a push by the Centre.

Addressing a farmers rally here, Modi said that the Centre had given Rs 15,040 crore to Karnataka farmers.


"Even the Congress MPs from Karnataka used to meet me and ask for funds and I used to tell them I have sent this much," he said.

"When I sent my officers to find out we came to know that the state officials were sitting on the central funds and it had not reached the farmers.

"After giving a push, the money reached the farmers andit was instructed that it should go into their Jana Dhan account and there should be no middlemen," Modi said.

Party senior state leader and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Union Minister Ananth Kumar and Karnataka unit BJP President Prahlad Joshi were present.
