The Centre has sought details of the passengers on board the Istanbul-bound Turkish Airlines flight from the airlines' authorities to ascertain whether the bomb scare was a mischief made by one of them, a Union minister said today.
"We are also interrogating passengers to find out whether someone has done some mischievous activity. We are in touch with the Turkish Airlines to get the details of the passengers," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma told PTI here.
If any fishy thing is found on the plane, the Centre would definitely call the Turkish Airlines authorities, Sharma added.
"Our first priority was to get the passengers and cabin crew out of the flight and take them to a safe shelter. The second part was to check the cabin in a proper manner. It is confirmed through checkings and sniffer dogs that there is no bomb inside the cabin. Now checking of the cargo part is going on," he said.
The flight from Bangkok with 134 passengers on board landed at the IGI Airport in New Delhi in emergency conditions after a message on a washroom mirror about the presence of a bomb triggered a scare.
"We have special arrangements to handle anykind of situation there at the airport and that is the reason we made the flight land there and not at Nagpur. Necessary arrangements were taken before the plane landed. In another two to three hours, the screening of the cargo section will be completed," he said.
The Ministry has a whole team of CISF, NSG, bomb-disposal squad, fire-brigade people ready to tackle any situation there, Sharma added.
