The RSS-affiliated SJM today demanded that both central and state governments must review the working of international NGOs which, it alleged, were promoting the interests of certain pharmaceutical firms producing contentious vaccines.
Questions were being raised about the influence of pharmaceutical giants on the National Immunisation Program, Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) co-convener Ashwani Mahajan alleged in a statement.
"SJM demands that all state governments and central government must review the working of the international NGOs active in their respective jurisdictions," it added.
NGOs, such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Global Health Strategies (GHS), Programme for Appropriate Technology for Health(PATH) were already facing allegations of conflict of interests, the SJM alleged.
The RSS' economic wing claimed that all these NGOs had been promoting the interests of certain pharmaceutical companies manufacturing "contentious" vaccines.
Department of Financial Services under the Finance Ministry was also investigating the appointment of the BMGF's national head on the board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), it said.
