As per the Economic Survey 2015-2016, the expenditure by government (Central and state governments combined) on health as percentage of GDP was 1.3 per cent, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel said in a written reply to a question in the Upper House.
She said as per World Health Statistics 2015, India's per capita government expenditure on health in 2012 was USD 60, while the US spent USD 4,153.
As on March 31, last year, there was shortage of 3,002 doctors at primary health care centres in rural areas, Patel said.
