The two sub-divisions of Tiloi and Salon would now be added to cover entire CSM Nagar district under the IGMSY scheme, a government statement which was released after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) had taken the decision, said.
An additional funding of Rs 11 crore is required for the 32,000 new beneficiaries. This will be met within the approved allocation made under Budget Estimates 2012-13, it added.
The IGMSY is operational on a pilot basis in 52 districts across the country and aims to improve the health and nutrition of pregnant, lactating women and young infants.
In July 2010, the Uttar Pradesh government had carved a new district of CSM Nagar by merging three sub-divisions from erstwhile Sultanpur district (Musafirkhana, Amethi and Gauriganj) and two sub-divisions of Rae Bareily (Salon and Tiloi).
While the IGMSY scheme covered Musafirkhana, Amethi and Gauriganj under the Sultanpur district, it was not applicable to Salon and Tiloi.
The Uttar Pradesh government had then requested the Centre for the inclusion of the two sub-divisions, which had been transferred from Rae Bareily district, so that the entire CSM Nagar district is covered under the Scheme, the statement added.
