"Out of these 300 institutions, 100 will be developed as medical colleges. With this, the country will have the service of 1,000 new doctors every year," he said.
Inaugurating a slew of development initiatives at the medical college here, he said government was making all efforts to resolve regional imbalances in medical education facilities in the country.
The northern and eastern parts of the country still have inadequate facilities compared to southern and western parts, he said.
Kerala was much above the national standard in health facilities and its Health index is above the national level, he said.

He also informed that Kerala government has submitted four places to the Centre for the proposed AIIMS in the state. A Central team would visit these places and take a final decision, he said.
Earlier the Minister inaugurated the new multi storied building of Government Dental College and newly constructed combined ladies hostel for Medical College.
He also laid the foundation stone for additional block Theatre complex and IP facility for the Dental College.
Speaking on the occasion, he underlined the need to give more emphasis for Research and Development in health sector.
Nadda said the success story of Hindustan Latex and Life Care Limited was a model for all public sector undertakings in the country. While most PSUs were seeking financial help from the Centre, HLL has been continuously making profit, he said.
"The fact that HLL exports its products to 170 countries is a matter of pride for the nation," he said.
