Madhya Pradesh government has thrice recommended to the Centre dismissal of suspended IAS couple Arvind and Tinu Joshi but a decision on its proposal has not yet been taken, the state assembly was informed today.
Replying to a question by Congress's Umang Singh, Minister of State for General Administration Lal Singh Arya told the House that proposals for dismissal of the two were sent to the Centre between April 2012 and May 2014.
The government's move followed an Income Tax raid at the couple's house in 2010 following which a disproportionate assets case was registered against them.
The proposals to dismiss Arvind Joshi were sent on April 28, 2012, March 6, 2013 and May 24, 2014, while against Tinu Joshi recommendations were sent on April 30, 2012, March 6, 2013 and on May 24, 2014, the minister said.
Arya also said after getting sanction for their prosecution on January 20, 2014, a challan was filed in the court by the probe agency on March 1 for initiating the process of confiscating assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
In a written reply to the same question, the government said a committee chaired by former Chief Secretary Nirmala Buch had also found the charges against the couple true.
