The examination and certification of films by the Censor Board in the months of July and August was delayed due to unavailability of members of advisory panel, the government said today.
"There had been delay in examination and certification of films by the Censor Board in July and August, 2014 as most of the Advisory Panel members had completed their two-year term and only limited number of members were available for examination," MoS, I&B Ministry, Rajyavardhan Rathore said in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
He, however, added that the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has extended the terms of members in all regions to amend the situation.
"The Ministry extended the terms of members in all regions and accordingly films have since been cleared," Rathore said.
In a written response to another question, he said that there was no significant decrease in number of advertisements telecast on Doordarshan.
The minister also added that TAM system may not correctly reflect viewership as it is captured from a limited sample size which does not factor the diversity of Indian population.
"The TAM peoplemeter distribution also has an urban skew, whereas DD viewers are concentrated in rural India," he said in his reply.
