The company had posted a net profit of Rs 171 crore in the year-ago period.
Revenue of the company stood at Rs 1,647 crore during the quarter under review, marginally up from Rs 1,611 crore during the last year's corresponding period.
CESC Chairman Sanjiv Goenka said the higher plant load factor, better efficiency, lower transmission and distribution loss and better demand during the quarter are the main reasons for positive impact at net profit level.
