CG co-op bank CEO's DA: Duplex houses, gold, FDs..and counting

A joint team of Chhattisgarh's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday raided premises of a top official of a state-run cooperative bank in Durg district and unearthed disproportionate assets worth several crores, officials said.

The raid was conducted at the residence and office of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zila Sahakari Kendriya Bank, Durg, Santosh Kumar Nivsarkar, superintendent of police (ACB) Manish Sharma said.

"As of now, the team has unearthed movable and immovable properties worth several crores, including a duplex house worth around Rs 1 crore at Sindhiya Nagar in Durg, a duplex house worth Rs 1.20 crore at Saket Nagar in Durg, fixed deposits worth Rs 40 lakh, investment of Rs 50 lakh in LIC, cash worth Rs 6.48 lakh from his (the CEO's) house, Rs 2 lakh in a bank account," he said.

Sleuths have also found gold weighing around 1 kg and 1.5 kg silver collectively worth around Rs 30 lakh from the house and the bank locker of Nivsarkar.

"Moreover, Nivsarkar also possesses three-acre agricultural land worth around Rs 15 lakh at Aamti village, two four-wheelersworth Rs 20 lakh and a two-wheeler," the officer said.

Investigation is underway to get details about other bank accounts and lockers of the CEO and his relatives, he added.

"Though the exact amount of the disproportionate assets was yet to be ascertained, prima facie Nivsarkar has amassed movable and immovable assets to the tune of several crores," the SP added.

No arrest is made so far.
