Cgh: Mob chops braids of 3 women on suspicion of prostitution

Three women were allegedly beaten up and their braids were chopped off by locals on suspicion of their involvement in flesh trade in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, the police said today.
The incident occurred last night in Gajra Basti under Bakimongra police station area and a case was registered by the police today, said Korba Additional Superintendent of Police Tarkeshwar Patel.
As per the preliminary information, local residents had spotted some suspicious visitors in the house of an elderly woman who stays alone.
Last night, somewomen of the locality barged into the elderly woman's house in her absence and caught the three women in an "objectionable" condition, following which they thrashed them, he said.
The women's clothes were allegedly torn off and their hair were chopped off with scissor by the mob.
However, the three women somehow managed to escape from the place, the ASP said.

When a police team reached the spot, the local women allegedly involved in incident also went back to their homes, he said.
Taking suo motu cognisance of the incident, the police has registered a case under sections 294 (obscene acts), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (intending to insult modesty of any woman) of the IPC against the unidentified accused, the ASP said, adding that further probe was on.
The local police are also trying to contact the three women while efforts are on to identify the accused, he said.
