Under attack from opposition parties, JPC Chairman P C Chacko today said he will consult Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar before finalising the date of the panel meeting to adopt the controversial report.
"I can announce the next date of the meeting today itself. But since reasonable or otherwise, some members have approached the Speaker against it, I thought it would be better that I consult her before deciding on the date," Chacko said outside Parliament House.
He refused to comment on the representation made by 15 opposition members to the Speaker expressing "no confidence" against him and seeking his removal.
"The two matters are before the Speaker, therefore, it would not be appropriate for me to comment on it," Chacko said.
