Chain snatcher held

An alleged chain snatcher has been arrested from the main Jalebi Chowk in the Sultan Puri area here with a gold chain recovered from him, police said today.
According to police, the arrested person, identified as Vicky, was involved in 20 snatching cases. He was held after police received a tip-off that he would come to the said area to dispose of a snatched chain.
Police recovered a gold chain and a motorcycle from Vicky and also arrested the goldsmith who was allegedly set to buy the chain from him, police said.
"A trap was laid and Vicky was apprehended while disposing of the snatched gold chain. The chain was recovered and the goldsmith, Pankaj, was also arrested," a police official said.

Vicky allegedly operates along with various associates. One of his associates, Anil, is absconding while another, Ramesh, his brother-in-law, is currently in judicial custody, police said. Ramesh is involved in more than 35 cases, police added.
