Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling has mooted a new welfare scheme - 'one family, one job' - to ensure financial security of the people of the Himalayan state.
He said that the policy decision will come into effect in letter and spirit by December 2018 to enable the first lot of beneficiaries to join their duties from January 2, 2019.
"We have taken a landmark policy decision - One Family One Job so that economically weaker families can at least have one member in government employment to ensure some kind of steady income to the families for their sustenance," he said in a Facebook post.
Chamling has also appealed to the people of Sikkim to help the government in identifying genuine beneficiaries so that only those eligible families avail of the benefit.
In case of any discrepancy arising in the implementation of this policy or if it is found that undue advantage is being taken by anyone, such information may be communicated to my office or can be directly inboxed on my official facebook page, he said.
