Chamling pays tribute to Gandhiji

Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling paid tributes to the Father of the Nation on his 147th birth anniversary today and urged the people to cherish his principles of Ahmisa and truth.
In his message, Chamling said Mahatma Gandhi is globally considered asymbol of peace, non-violence and freedom for hisphilosophy ofAhimsa.
"Gandhiji is remembered for his ideas of non-violence, truth and the Satyagrahamovement. His teachings are still relevant for resolving conflicts, avoiding violence and finding peaceful solutions in the modern world weighed down by various factions and intolerance," he said.
Chamling also called upon people to rededicate themselves to Gandhi's values and ideals and to follow them in their everyday lives.
"I take pride that Gandhi Jayanti is being celebrated as International Day of Non-violence across the globe. This is a fitting tribute by the world community to the Father of the Nation," he added.
