Chana prices rose 2.81 per cent to Rs 3,950 per quintal in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, supported by soaring demand from dal mills at the spot market amid restricted supplies.
In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in the current month advanced Rs 108, or 2.81 per cent, to Rs 3,950 per quintal with an open interest of 390 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in January edged higher by Rs 92, or 2.33 per cent, to Rs 4,038 per quintal in 46,820 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices in futures trade to widening of positions by speculators, tracking a firm trend at the domestic spot market on strong demand.
