At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in January rose Rs 71, or 1.82 per cent, to Rs 3,977 per quintal with an open interest of 5,260 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in March contracts was trading higher by Rs 38, or 0.99 per cent, at Rs 3,869 per quintal in 78,910 lots.
Traders said expansion of positions by participants backed by pick-up in demand from dal mills in the spot market amid pause in arrivals from producing belts kept chana prices higher.
