Speculators trimmed position amid sluggish demand in spot market

Chana prices were down by 0.22% to Rs 3,616 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed position amid sluggish demand in spot market.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market on higher supplies from major producing belts also put pressure on chana prices.

At National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in April month eased by Rs 8, or 0.22%, to Rs 3,616 per quintal with an open interest of 1,37,970 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in May contracts traded lower by Rs 3, or 0.08%, to Rs 3,635 per quintal in 1,02,530 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by speculators amid subdued demand in the spot market mainly influenced chana prices at futures trade.
