Amid pick up in domestic demand and tight supplies from producing regions, chana prices traded higher by 0.93% to Rs 3,569 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in February month rose by Rs 33, or 0.93% to Rs 3,569 per quintal with an open interest of 81,570 lots.
In a similar fashion, the commodity for delivery in January contract moved up by Rs 31, or 0.89% to Rs 3,498 per quintal in 36,060 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators due to pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
