Chana prices went up by 0.91 per cent to Rs 4,324 per quintal in futures trade today as participants created fresh positions, driven by rising demand from dal mills in the spot market.

Besides, tight stocks positions following drop in arrivals from producing regions fuelled the uptrend.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in August went up by Rs 39, or 0.91 per cent, higher to Rs 4,324 per quintal with an open interest of 64,550 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in September gained Rs 19, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 4,322 per quintal in 41,200 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in chana prices to surging demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions.
