Chances of survival of the 14- month-old girl, who fell into an open borewell in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district two days ago, are bleak, officials said today.
The girl, daughter of a farm labourer, was playing with her elder sister when she accidentally fell in the 450 feet deep open borewell in a field at Ekkareddyguda village here on Thursday around 7.15 PM.
"We don't expect the baby to be alive... Whether she is within 50 feet or gone below that, we are not able to establish," District Collector Raghunandan Rao said.
High-tech sensitive cameras were being deployed to locate the girl, he said.
"Cameras have been dropped upto 245 feet. Still there is no sighting of the baby," Chevella tehsildar Gopi Ramana said.
Rescue operation was hampered by rains last night, Sub- Inspector N Sridhar Reddy of Chevella police station said.

Oxygen is being supplied into the borewell, and a team of doctors is on stand-by.
According to a revenue department official, the land owner had not covered the borewell as a motor pump was to be installed on it.
