Announcing this here today, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said the Punjab government has initiated a project worth Rs 13,000 crore to connect every town of the state with four and six-lane roads in next 3 years.
"With today's announcement, people of Fatehgarh Sahib and adjoining areas will be greatly benefited with the reduction of journey time to Chandigarh as well as Patiala," he said.
He approved Rs 30 crore for total sewer coverage for the city, besides Rs 2 crore for the beautification of Sirhind drain and developing it as a picnic spot on the pattern of Sukhna lake in Chandigarh.
He also announced construction of a world class stadium in the city during the next financial year, and promised to organise matches of kabaddi world cup in 2013.
Badal said state government has chalked out a Rs 8745 crore urban development project for 142 cities and towns of the state to be implemented in next three years.
