Chandigarh wrestler lifts Neelay Dangal wrestling title
Press Trust of India Jammu A wrestler from Chandigarh was today declared winner of the 12th annual 'Katra Neelay Kesri Vishal Dangal', the Indian style wrestling event held at Katra town of Reasi district today.
"The first main bout (I Malli) was fought between wrestler Manna of Chandigarh against Nisar of Doda, Manna defeated his rival in 23 minutes and was declared the winner," President of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma said.
MLA Reasi Ajay Nanda was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed cash prize to the winners and runners-up.
"The winner was given a cash prize of Rs 7500 whereas the runner-up got a cash price of Rs 5500," he said.
"Wrestling is an annual feature for the last 12 years and will be organized with the same enthusiasm in future as well. We are trying our best to uplift the indigenous game of wrestling and it's the duty of the state to help promote it," Sharma said.
