Kerala High Court today stayed the trial of an accused for two weeks in the murder of ex-CPI(M) activist T P Chandrasekharan.
Justice Harun-Al Rashid ordered interim stay on a petition by the accused Pradeepan.
According to the accused, the statement produced by police that the investigating officer has taken his statement from his house was incorrect. This can be proved by examining the telephone call records of the concerned officer who had allegedly recorded the statement, petitioner stated.
The court issued notice to state and directed that trial against the accused should be stayed for two weeks.
Chandrasekharan, who quit the CPI (M) a few years ago, had floated the Revolutionary Marxist Party. He was brutally hacked to death on May 4, 2012 in Onchiyam in Kozhikode district. Many local CPI(M) leaders are among the accused in the case.
