Channels slapped notice for objectionable content in 19 cases

This was stated by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting C M Jatua in response to a query in the Lok Sabha.

Channel Enter 10 was issued a notice for the telecast of 'A'certified hindi feature films 'Musafir' and 'Plan' in January this year.

In April, three different channels were issued notice for similar telecasts. TV Channel named Zing telecast 'A' certified film 'Hawas' while another TV channel Manoranjan telecast 'Topless'.

Enter 10 again received the notice for telecasting 'Ashiq Banaya Aapne', information provided by the ministry said.

In May this year, Manoranjan TV got another notice for the telecast of film 'Ek Chatur Naar' while in July TCM TV channel received a notice for the telecast of 'Rich and Famous'.

As per the details provided by the ministry of I&B, in all the six cases related to telecast of 'A' rated movies and 13 other cases action to be taken by the government was under consideration.

Of the other cases, six channels had been given show cause notices for telecast of advertisement of 'clean and dry intimate wash' which appeared indecent and obscene. The other cases in which notices were given were for objectionable content in programmes, the ministry said. (More)
