Chaplin is best remembered for donning the suit and bowler hat combination to portray a bumbling vagrant striving to behave like a gentleman.
He was reportedly given the outfit first by Scottish actor Billie Ritchie, who had been doing the 'tramp' role in silent comedies, reported Contactmusic.
The movie icon kept on making the role famous in a number of films including 'A Dog's Life'.
The costume on sale includes a suit, hat, walking cane and pair of shoes worn by the actor alongwith some documents giving particulars regarding Chaplin's relationship with Billie Ritchie.
