"I ask the management of MVP to work on realising their dream of becoming a deemed university...Government will consider their demand," Chavan said at the centenary function of the institution held on its campus.
Chavan also appealed to the MVP (previously known as Nashik District Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj (NDMVP)) to impart quality education to students and groom them to face challenges.
While announcing a financial aid of Rs 50 lakh for MVP from CM's Relief Fund, Chavan observed that wards of farmers should pursue modern education.
Chavan also listed the measures undertaken by his government to help sugarcane growers and onion cultivators.
The chief minister also cited example of China over its economic might.
NDMVP is the leading educational institution in Maharashtra, founded by social leaders Raosaheb Thorat, Bhausaheb Hiray, Kakasaheb Wagh and Annasaheb Murkute.
