Chavan dedicates to people 272 minor irrigation projects

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today dedicated to people as many as 272 minor irrigation projects in the state, which are aimed at bringing 10,366 hectares of land under irrigation for farming.
These projects are spread across 222 villages and constructed at the cost of Rs 131 crore.
"The state government is committed towards wiping out tears of peasants engaged in dry farming. The state has decided to construct water storage with centralised system due to drought-like situation prevailing in many villages since last two-three years," the chief minister said.
He was speaking after dedicating to people the project at Bhaur Goegaon in Vaijapur tehsil of the district.
State ministers Rajendra Darda, Nitin Raut, Suresh Dhas and others were present at the function.
