Joining nationwide strike called by All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists to protest online sale of drugs, nearly 40,000 chemists and wholesalers of the state today kept their shops closed.
The strike called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD) affected a business of nearly Rs 100 crore, President of the Rajasthan Chemists Association R B Puri said.
He added that chemists associations in districts also submitted memorandums to respective district administrative officials for the central government for their demand of ban on sale of drugs online.
However, emergency services were not affected as lifeline stores in government hospitals and co-operative drugs stores supplied medicines, Puri said.
