About 88,000 domestic tap connections rural have been provided so far in the current financial year. The state has been ranked first in providing domestic tap connection in the country. This is the state's second major achievement after bagging first position in the country for installing solar pumps, Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Ganesh Shankar Mishra said today.
About 88,000 rural households of the State have been provided domestic water connection during the period under NRDWP.
The Central Government had given a target of 30,000 water connection for the year 2014-15 under the programme.
The objective of the whole programme is to provide pure drinking water to rural people to protect them from water borne diseases, he said.

Each household has to pay a fee of Rs 500 for water connection under the programme.
However, for people belonging to BPL category, the State Government bears the cost, he added.
