Chhattisgarh Governor lauds BJP-led state government

Chhattisgarh Governor Shekhar Dutt lauded the BJP-led government while addressing on the second day of the first session of the fourth legislative assembly, amid uproar by Opposition Congress about alleged irregularities in paddy procurement and fake ration cards issue.
"My government is delivering commendably on promises made to the people and has started working on the upcoming plans," the Governor said.
The state government had fulfilled its promise of procuring paddy on support price and set a record in the paddy procurement, he said.
Last year, the Chhattisgarh government procured 71.36 lakh metric tonne paddy and paid Rs 10,922 crore, including bonus to farmers, he said.
Since the state government procured paddy for the Centre's pool, it has written to the Prime Minister to provide Rs 2100 per quintal as support price to farmers, he said.
The state government has decided to provide Rs 300 per quintal bonus to paddy farmers from this kharif season, he said.

"My government had enacted effective Chhattisgarh Food and Nutritional Security Act 2012 to make the state free of hunger and malnutrition," he said.
Under this law, the supply of 35 kg of rice and wheat at the rate of Rs 1 per kilogram to poor families was started from January 1 onwards, he said.
Senior female family members have been registered as heads of families on ration cards, which is a major step towards female empowerment, he said.
The Chhattisgarh state government has introduced, the 'Atal Agri Labourers' Insurance Scheme for more than 17 lakh agriculture labourers, he said.
