Chhattisgarh govt announces academy for hockey and archery

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has announced setting up of a dedicated academy for hockey and archery with a view to groom budding players in these sport forms.
"The state government will soon establish a Hockey and Archery Academy," Singh said here yesterday while addressing a sports awards ceremony held at Balbir Singh Juneja indoor stadium.
On the occasion, Singh felicitated as many as 407 players, coaches, and outstanding personalities from the field for their outstanding contribution in promoting various forms of sports in the state.
He bestowed 'Rajya Khel Alankaran' award on 30 players under sub-heads of Shaheed Rajiv Pandey award, Shaheed Koushal Yadav award, Veer Hanuman Singh award, Shaheed Pankaj Vikram and Shaheed Vinod Choubey Samman.
Congratulating the awardees, the chief minister urged them to focus their efforts on bringing laurels to Chhattisgarh in national and international-level sporting events in future.
He asked the players to start preparations for the 35th National Games of India to be held in Kerala in 2015 while emphasising that "Chhattisgarh must bag the maximum number of medals in all sport events.
