Chhattisgarh official held for accepting Rs 4,800 as bribe

An official of State Cooperative Marketing Federationwas today arrestedby the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting abribeof Rs 4,800 in Durg district.
Virendra Kumar Mishra (61) Assistant Accounts Officer, Durg, was arrested while accepting the bribe from the complainant, an ACB official said.
The complainant deals in custom milling work and had not received a payment of Rs 4.80 lakh from Markfed for his works, he said.
"When he contacted Mishra for his payment, the latter demanded one per cent of his due, amounting to Rs 4,800, as bribe for moving his payment related file to superior officers," the official said.
The complainant then lodged a complaint with ACB which laid a trap at Mishra's office.
A case under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against the officer, he added.
