Security forces Sunday recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing seven kilograms in Chhattigarh's Bijapur district, police said.
The IED, laid by naxals, was packed in a steel tiffin box and concealed under a dirt track near Gorna village, about 4 kilometres from the district headquarters, an official from Kotwali police station said.
He said that the IED was recovered following a tip-off and the bomb detection and disposal squad destroyed it later.
He said that naxals laid such IEDs on routes passing through dense forests to target patrolling security force teams.
