The Mizoram government fulfilled its responsibilities to bring back the refugees, an official statement quoting Chidambaram said here today.
The Home Minister said some of the Mizo leaders created problems by opposing and obstructing the process for their own personal benefits.
The future course of action to be undertaken by the Centre and the state government on the refugee issue was also discussed by Chidambaram and Lal Thanhawla during a recent meeting on security issues, including repatriation of the Bru refugees, the release said.
It said the two leaders also discussed law and order in Mizoram and on dealing with the Manipur-based Hmar People's Convention-Democrats militants who were indulging in illegal activities from across the border.
